World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type it can raise an item's Mark level or Rarity and boost additional stats.
item upgrades comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specific amount.
Item Level
When an item gets upgraded, its basic stats improve in value. The value is the sum of all its upgraded perks (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be expensive depending on the person you hire and what you do. This is due to how many perks must be replaced in order for the item to be upgraded.
It is also used to enforce gating requirements when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It can also be used as a gating requirement while waiting to queue for dungeons and scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is capped at the lower levels). The average item level is listed on the character sheet.
The level of an item can help players compare the power of equipment when choosing to buy or sell. It's a sign of the damage and its quality. The level of an item can be used to compare items when looking at the inventory of a seller.
On PC, you can view the item level by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the complete description of the item, including its level. It can also be located by hovering over an item with the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel into chat.
There are several theories about how the calculation of the item's level is carried out. One theory is that the item level is a number that comes from a formula which calculates how much an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration the fact that various perks have different value and sockets have gems that increase the value of the item overall. This process could result in a calculated value for the item's level, which is usually quite close to Blizzard's real level of the item.
This isn't the only factor that influences the ilvl of an item. The location of where the item was dropped can alter its stats. For instance, it could increase the item's haste or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher the ilvl than items from lower level instances.
Item Stats
Stats on an item are a significant element in what determines the value of an item for players. The game uses a variety of them in a variety of ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and to prevent one weapon from being "the best." The stats of a base weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat modification, which are themselves boosted by the player's level.
Upgrades to an item may increase its stats. The rarity of an item determines its upgrade cost. An item that is white or grey for instance, can only be upgraded once and items that has rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times with more expensive costs.
Another method to alter the stats of an item is by affixing it. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. Affixes can provide the item extra damage, or add a unique ability to the item (such as reviving dead or reducing the duration of cooldowns), or make the item unique by putting a special name to the item.
Currently, all affixes can be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circling arrows. This will cost a certain amount of gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges, similar to other rerolling methods.
In addition to rerolling affixes, players can also choose which of the available stats to keep on an item after it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However each item will contain at least one stat in that range unless they are an item that is unique or the item is a God Roll from a raid boss.
Another thing that could change is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the attachments, or pick which stats to boost. Similar to the base equipment, this must be done per item, and the item comparison interface will not show all possible stats simultaneously.
Item Luck
A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the odds of finding items and the properties that are spawned from loot drops, and the intensity of those properties. However, it doesn't directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to upgrade their gear earlier in the game. This is more useful in early game runs since players tend to prioritize weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.
In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the probability of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance which increases with each level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
The shields, armor and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can then be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to grant an additional +40 Luck or to boost the Luck of an item up to 140.
Moreover, certain items, such as the Hollow infused weapon can be used to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items are available in the shop, or they can be constructed using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items can be a costly process and not all upgrades will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the success rate of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item if it fails.
The rate of success of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading the item, and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to how much the success rates can be improved and the probability of a failed upgrade cannot exceed 100%..
The Luck of an item can also influence the effectiveness of an upgrade. Every item has an overall success rate of 25%, and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.
It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items, so enchantment glint and other effects can be masked by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
